Recruitment Is Tough In Today's Economy

When we search for jobs the first thing that we will face is that of a recruiter. How do recruiters choose their applicants you may ask? That answer is quite complex and interesting when you consider that they may go through thousands of potential applicants for a few positions within the company.

For the potential employee it is important that you answer truthfully both on your resume and any potential application that you may fill out. Recruiters will spend hours looking through information trying to find inaccuracies in your answers. Stay consistent and truthful, it is your best answer to landing a job.

UK jobs are plentiful but you have to remember that everyone is looking at securing the top positions and if you want to be one of them than you have to play it safe. Unfortunately some people may have an advantage over you if they know someone in the company, in those cases there is nothing you can do except tell the truth and hope it helps. (more...)

Fancy Working Abroad?

If you hold a European Union passport, finding work in another country within the EU is no longer the hassle of red tape and bureaucracy that it once was. You are entitled to live and work in another country without having to have a work permit, as long as you follow the normal local regulations.

However, before you go looking long term rentals in Spain or France, make sure that you have researched the move carefully. Many people look at working and living abroad with rose tinted spectacles, only to find themselves sorely disappointed.

Make sure that you find out as much as you can about the country before you make the final decision. Some people move to a place without even ever having visited and their lack of preparation often leaves them disappointed and getting a plane straight back home. (more...)

Recruitment for Legal Jobs

Even before this current economic downfall, recruitment into any legal profession had been oversubscribed for a number of decades. In fact, the number of students taking an LLB at university has absolutely gone through the roof and this has led to the most competitive industry for graduates when they are ready to enter the workplace.

For most graduates, especially in this current climate, their LLB may well become a complete waste of time. This will definitely be the case if the student failed to secure an honours degree of a 2:1 or above.

During the recruitment process for legal positions nowadays, you can rest assured that employers are guaranteed to receive applications from dozens of law graduates. What is more, a considerable number of these applicants will have a 2:1 or even a first. If you have achieved a 2:2 or third, you really are going to be hard pushed to draw the potential employer's attention to your attributes and are unlikely to be awarded with the job. This is the same across the board from applying for an LPC place to employment law training. (more...)
